In my opinion renting software from Adobe is still a bad idea because of the lock-in. Fortunately Lightroom 6 standalone is still available. There is very little to recommend the Classic version except that it will include a few bug fixes and the Dehaze filter that came out a while ago for Lightroom CC. Instead they are offering Lightroom Classic CC, which is a desktop focused version without the cloud features of Lightroom CC-for the same price in a package with Photoshop CC. I made a call to Adobe because there appeared to be a Lightroom 7 in the wings, but I was told by support persons in India, both in a phone call and a chat that there will be no standalone version of the next version of Lightroom.

This appears to be a maintenance update for Lightroom CC. You may go through some frustration learning new software but believe me once you distance yourself from Adobe's crap you will be better off. My suggestion is to stop searching for updates that the continue to hide and bite the bullet.

I moved to onOne Photo RAW 2018 (on1 Photo) and it has worked well for me. I finally decided to get rid of every Adobe product I had earlier this year. In my opinion they have not been honest about their software development, they have used their position in the software world to force users into junk products, they hide updates and make it hard to manage the software. Over the years I have heard complaints about Adobe. Output Sharpening - High is less than the standard level.
